In Year 4, we have been studying the topic of Sound in our science lessons. We have been exploring volume, pitch and how to amplify and muffle sounds. The children have really enjoyed this topic as we have had lots of instruments out and haven't had much of a rule on the amount of sound they can make! To solidify our understanding (and to have extra fun) we invited Sam in from The Science of Sound. He showed the children an array of instruments he had made from a variety of easy to get materials including wood and plastic straws! The children had so much fun learning about how to create instruments at home - we even had a child create their own guitar and bring it in to show us the following day!
