They went back in time to 1853 and became soldiers in the Crimean War. Unfortunately, they were injured and sent to Scutari Hospital. They were devastated when they found out, as they had only heard terrible things. When they arrived, they discovered that there were no beds and there were rats, lice, fleas and blood all over the floor. The conditions were disgusting. Thankfully, Florence Nightingale arrived and saved the day. She recruited trained nurses and cleaned the hospital from top to bottom. Y2 discussed the impact Florence had on the hospital, its patients and modern medicine. The following lesson, they consolidated their learning by completing a sorting activity.
