Year 4

Welcome to the Year 4 class page!

Wednesday 21st January - Roman visitor (all day) - please feel free to send your child in Roman themed clothing! If you are unsure on how to do this, Google has some great ideas or please speak to a member of the class team. Old bedsheets are a great DIY tool for this!

Over the next couple of weeks, Year 4 will be participating in a practise round of the end-of-year Multiplication Table Checks. This will consist of your child doing 1 session of answering a range of table questions with a time limit.

This is done to expose them to the format of the official test in the summer term.

In DT, we were using Tinkercad. If your child wants to practise at home, please follow these instructions:

1) Type in Tinkercad to Google and open the webpage.

2) Click log in, then click students with class code.

3) Type the following code
FMA IMH ZR8

4) Type in your child's first name.

Any problems, feel free to ask. :)

Homework is set on a Thursday to be completed by the following Tuesday.

Please can we ensure all homework is being completed weekly. We only have a small percentage of children completing their homework consistently, every week.

Activity 1: Three reads!

Reading books will come home each day. A library book will come home at the end of each week. Complete your 3 x 15-minute reads. Comment in your reading record and ask an adult to sign it off. Return it to school every day. Remember, 3 reads = a TrackIt point and you will receive another TrackIt point for any additional reads you complete! During the school day, if you read for 15 minutes, you can write this down in your reading record and it will count as one of your 3 reads!

Activity 2:

Keep logging onto TTRockstars and practising your times tables! We will all become times table wizards in no time! By the end of Year 4, children should know all the times tables (1-12) up to 12x the number. Times tables are incredibly important for us to master!

This week, make sure you complete your 15 minute Garage session.

Also, as an extra, try and do at least 1 Soundcheck session a week. This will help you practise your speed of recalling times table facts ready for our Multiplication Tables Check in the Summer!

Activity 3: Spellings.

Our spelling focus is to spell words where a suffix is added to words ending in 'y'.

Stage 4, List 19:

Learn these spellings for our Friday spelling test by completing your homework (which is set on a Thursday to be completed and handed in by the following Tuesday).

You can use the Spelling Shed link below to practise your spellings. Just type in the stage and list number.

Play a game to practise your spellings....
