Year 4

Welcome to the Year 4 class page!

Just a reminder:

As Year 4's Multiplication Tables Check is edging closer, please ensure homework is complete as this includes weekly times table practise. Any further practise will always be helpful. This could include: listening to times table songs as you brush your teeth, counting in multiples as you climb up and down the stairs and getting family members to quiz you!

Times table knowledge is incredibly important, not only for school life, but throughout adulthood too, so let's keep practising! Our times tables results so far have been absolutely amazing!

Our swimming sessions are now complete. I just wanted to say how proud I am of each and every child in the class. They showed resilience, pride and determination during every session. We had, not 1, but 2 compliments from the staff members and a teacher from another school who approached me to tell me how proud I should be of such an amazing class. I was told how polite, well-mannered and truly amazing they were and that you could tell just how much the children enjoyed being there. A staff member also said how much they looked forward to our class attending the sessions because the children were all so lovely, always asking how the instructors were and being extremely polite. So, I just wanted to say thank you, Year 4. For being such an amazing class who have represented the school (and yourselves) so brilliantly.

In DT, we were using Tinkercad. If your child wants to practise at home, please follow these instructions:

1) Type in Tinkercad to Google and open the webpage.

2) Click log in, then click students with class code.

3) Type the following code LKBZPLKLM

4) Type in your child's first name.

Any problems, feel free to ask. :)

Homework is set on a Thursday to be completed by the following Tuesday.

Please can we ensure all homework is being completed weekly. We only have a small percentage of children completing their homework consistently, every week.

Activity 1: Three reads!

Reading books will come home each day. A library book will come home at the end of each week. Complete your 3 x 15-minute reads. Comment in your reading record and ask an adult to sign it off. Return it to school every day. Remember, 3 reads = a TrackIt point and you will receive another TrackIt point for any additional reads you complete! During the school day, if you read for 15 minutes, you can write this down in your reading record and it will count as one of your 3 reads!

Activity 2:

Keep logging onto TTRockstars and practising your times tables! We will all become times table wizards in no time! By the end of Year 4, children should know all the times tables (1-12) up to 12x the number. Times tables are incredibly important for us to master!

This week, make sure you complete your 15 minute Garage session.

Also, as an extra, try and do at least 1 Soundcheck session a week. This will help you practise your speed of recalling times table facts ready for our Multiplication Tables Check in the Summer!

Activity 3: Spellings.

Our spelling focus is to spell challenge words.

Stage 4, List 32:

Learn these spellings for our Friday spelling test by completing your homework (which is set on a Thursday to be completed and handed in by the following Tuesday).

You can use the Spelling Shed link below to practise your spellings. Just type in the stage and list number.

Play a game to practise your spellings....
