Welcome to the new Year 4 class page for September 2024!
Year 4 have really impressed Mrs Welsh and I with how they have settled in to the new challenges of a new year group with maturity and determination. Well done team! Keep up the hard-working attitudes!
Important dates:
Wednesday 9th October AM - Y4 Lego STEM session.
Our PE day is a Tuesday. Please ensure children come to school in their uniform (a Schoop has been sent about this).

A snippet of our Autumn 1 topics:
English: Letter writing to apply for school jobs & writing an advertisement (writing an Ancient Greece holiday brochure).
Maths: Place value and addition & subtraction.
Science: Group & classify living things, data collection and states of matter.
History: Ancient Greece.
Reminders
Every day, pupils will need:
A clear, reusable water bottle. This will be taken home daily to be cleaned and refilled.
A book bag. This will be stored in your tray.
All pupils will have a banded reading book which comes home daily.
Pupils may bring a fresh fruit or vegetable snack to eat at break. No other snacks please.
Autumn 1, Week 6
increase
Word class: increase can be a verb (a doing word) or a noun (a person, place or thing).
Definition : to become or make greater in size, amount or degree (verb form) OR a rise in the size, amount or degree of something (noun form).
Example: The school has seen an increase in the number of children completing their homework.

Activity 1: Spellings.
Our spelling focus is to spell challenge words.
You can use the Spelling Shed link at the bottom of our class page to practise your spellings. Just type in the stage and list number.
Stage 4, List 6:
Learn these spellings for a spelling test on Friday 11th October.
Activity 2: Keep logging on TTrockstars and practicing you times-tables! We will all become Times Table wizards in no time! By the end of Year 4, children should know all their times tables (1-12) up to 12x the number.
This week, make sure you complete your 15 minute Garage session!
Activity 3: Three reads!
Reading books will come home each day. A library book will come home at the end of each week. Complete your 3 x 15-minute reads. Comment in your reading record and ask an adult to sign it off. Return it to school every day. Remember, 3 reads = a TrackIt point and you will receive another TrackIt point for any additional reads you complete!
