  • TT Rockstars and Numbots

    Does your child practice their multiplication and number facts at home? Next week is the battle of the classes, so it makes sense to get practicing. All children from Y2 upwards have TT rockstar log in's. Please talk to your child's teacher if you need a new log in. We now have a new web based game called Numbots for Foundation Stage and KS1. The children will be bringing home logs in for this.
  • KeyStage One raise money by dancing their socks off!

    Last week, KeyStage One had a Danceathon to raise the money, to cover the cost, of transport for their trip to Temple Newsam. They had a fabulous time, led enthusiastically by Mr Sandford our creative dance specialist and Mrs Paul the Zumba queen! It was also a great way for the children to contribute towards their own trip and make it happen. Thank you parents too, for your sponsorship.   • Developing early reading skills. Workshop for parents in Foundation One.

    On Monday 27th at 2.45 pm - 3.15 pm, Mrs Byerley will be hosting a workshop for parents on how to promote early reading skills. This workshop will be repeated on Thursday 30th January at the same time. In this session, Mrs Byerley will share techniques and strategies that you can adopt at home to develop the skills your child needs, to become a fluent reader. We strongly recommend that you attend one of these sessions as you will swiftly see an impact.
  • Our SEND Panathlon team in medal position!

    Our well established SEND sports team have been out on tour again. They competed in a a Panathlon style event at Pudsey sports centre. As usual, they wore our LPPS sports kit with pride and came back having achieved a medal position! Go Team Lawns Park. If you want to see photos please visit the PE section of the website. 
  • Numbots and TT Rockstars.

    All the pupils have a log in for TT rockstars from Y2 - Y6. This internet based game, is a fun and challenging way to learn multiplication and division facts. Pupils need a strong working knowledge of these facts to help them solve problems in all aspects of Maths. The app can be downloaded onto your phone or tablet so when ever you have a spare three minutes your child could have a practice.  For Foundation Stage two and KS1, we also now have Numbots. Again this is internet based and  develops working knowledge of number and number facts. We will be sending home log in's for Numbots this week. 
  • Lawns Park Primary School Packed lunch policy review

    Lawns Park is a Healthy School and our school food ambassadors are about to review our Packed Lunch Policy. All food produced in our school meets the school food standards. This is in line with the government's statutory guidelines.  We are working towards making sure our packed lunches do too. The school food ambassadors will be consulting  with the children, staff and parents using surveys and questionaires. Please watch out for a letter and survey coming home this week. Many Thanks for taking the time to complete it and helping us in the review process.
  • Online safety

    This week we sent home an online safety contract for you to sign. At Lawns Park we endeavor to ensure that the pupils know how to keep themselves and others safe online. We have had a lesson on this document but we would appreciate you also talking it through with your child. Online safety is a key aspect of our PSHE curriculum at Lawns Park and we have enhanced the delivery of the important messages by inviting drama groups, visitors and holding workshops to work with the children.
  • Year Six SATS meeting 3.30 pm

    All Year Six parents need to attend this important meeting about Year Six SATS which take place in May 2020. It is imperative that you attend as you will receive important information as to how to support your child.
  • Reading fluency workshop for F2/Y1 parents with Mrs Dean

    Mrs Dean will be delivering a workshop for parents of children in Foundation Two and Year One on Monday 13th January and repeated on Monday 20th January. The workshop will run from 2.45 pm until 3.15 pm. In the session Mrs Dean will model and exemplify strategies that will improve your child's reading fluency. We strongly recommend, that you attend one of these sessions so that you can adopt these strategies when reading with your child at home. You will then swiftly see the impact on your child's reading fluency.
  • Lawns Park Primary School is a Reading school

    At Lawns Park you know, we have all been working really hard, to improve the children's reading skills. As parents, you have contributed greatly to the progress made, especially with the commitment to the three read initiative.  We would like to draw your attention, to how you could, have even more impact on your child's progress, in Reading. We strongly recommend that you attend one of our workshop sessions. Mrs Dean will be running a workshop for Foundation Stage Two and Year One on Monday 13th and repeating this on Monday 20th January at 2.45 pm. Miss Byerley is running two sessions for Foundation One parents on 27th and 30th January at 2.45 pm. Mrs Paul has a session planned for Year Two parents on 22nd January at 3.15 pm. Something not to be missed is Mrs Dean's Big Read. This is a shared story time in the library for parents and children in Foundation Stage and Year One. We also have Fluency Friday in Foundation Two, come in early at 8.30 am and read with your child. Soon we will have our own dedicated area on the website for Reading where you will find lots and lots of supportive resources. Keep your eyes out for more sessions coming soon.
